Dr. Swati Desai is a recognized psychology professional in Los Angeles for over 20 years. She is a certified teacher of Mindfulness and Self-Compassion, trained by the Center for Mindful Sell Compassion. She has been teaching MSC for many years to a global audience.

MSC (Mindful Self Compassion) is an evidence-based program designed to teach you emotional resilience, reduce being tough on yourself and yet to motivate yourself to achieve what you want, being a better care-giver (self and others), and improving relations with friends and family. Duration:

The program is eight week long, starting from October 11th 2021 Ending on November 30th 2021.
Mondays and Tuesdays from 8:30 to 9:45 am PST (Los Angeles), 9 pm to 10:15 pm Indian Standard Time

Past Workshops

1. School of Life Through Mindfulness

Dates: Starting on March 29 th Monday, for four weeks, twice a week, Mondays and Wednesdays, ending on April 21st.

Time: 9 pm Indian Standard Time. One hour and 15 minutes each time.

Understand, discover, experience, and utilize mindfulness to add ease to your daily lives. This program is suitable for novices and regulars alike to get the nitty-gritty of Mindfulness clear and to learn new ways to navigate through fears, anxieties, and relationships. The program helps to establish a practice of Mindfulness in easy and interesting ways.

2. Mindfulness Support Group

Dates: Starting on March 28 th Sunday. Continuing.

Time: 9 pm Indian Standard Time. One hour and 15 minutes each time.

This support group is designed for people who wish to continue their Mindfulness practice with a group of people from all over the world. You may have learnt about Mindfulness in the Happiness class or in any other workshop. In order to derive the benefits of Mindfulness, it helps to practice regularly with other people. The group will have teaching, ongoing meditation practices, and question and answers around any issue that comes up for the participants.

3. Practicing Happiness Habits

Dr. Swati is offering another series called 'Practicing Happiness Habits.' This Program is based on Dr. Raj’s groundbreaking work summarized in his book “If You Are Smart, Why Aren’t You Happy” and his very popular Coursera course “Life of Happiness and Fulfillment”. Dr. Swati uses techniques from her expertise in Mindfulness, Self-Compassion, and modern Buddhist Psychology to explain and to help instill the seven happiness habits in Dr. Raj’s work.

8 weeks long, Two options for enrolling

Duration: 1 hour and 15 minutes each time

Options 1

Monday - 8pm Pacific Standard time / Tuesday 9:30am Indian Standard Time

Option 2

Tuesday - 8 am Pacific Standard Time / Tuesday 9:30pm Indian Standard Time

Some optional homework and videos to watch will be offered each week between sessions.

The series is offered on a completely voluntary donation only. Your donations help to keep our offerings alive. However, no one is denied access to the participation because of finance issues. Your participation and using the lessons in your life is the biggest reward.

4. Practicing Well-being

An ongoing online meditation sitting group. This series is called Practicing Wellbeing. Each session will involve guided meditation, some teaching, and a discussion. The meditations are based on Mindfulness and Self-Compassion teachings and research from Western Psychology. We will be using specific suggestions from the research on wellbeing supported by Dr. Richard Davidson's Center for Healthy Mind. This center studies contemplative practices such as Mindfulness by using modern neuroscience tools.

The four week long series of sessions will start on October 27th and end on November 24th, (No class on November 10th). Sessions will be offered on four Tuesdays, 45 minutes each time, with a choice of either joining in at 8:30am Indian Standard Time (IST) or 9pm IST.

The sessions are free of charge. Feel free to send the invitation to your friends.

5. Mindful self-compassion

SEVA Counseling Centre, Hyderabad, is happy to announce a Live Online offering of the world-renowned program Mindful Self Compassion taught by Dr. Swati Desai. She has not only been a recognized psychology professional in Los Angeles for over 20 years, she is also a certified teacher of Mindfulness and Self Compassion and founder of 2meditate. She has already offered this class to Seva counselors before whose heartfelt testimonials are proof in itself of the efficacy of the teachings and the teacher.

Duration: The program is eight week long, starting from July 20th, ending on September 8th, on Mondays and Tuesdays. There are 3 batches 8:30 am, 7:30 pm, 9 pm IST,each time for 1 hour and 15 minutes. Start your day with beautiful contemplative practices. You will get a zoom link after registration.

Fees: Voluntary donations. The proceeds will go to Seva Counseling Centre, Hyderabad entirely to help them to help the increased level of Corona related calls they are getting. In addition, the participants will be given a certificate of completion, which can be used for the next level training offered by the Center for Mindful Self Compassion.
